Get Ready for the New Academic Year: Moodle 4.3 Resources and Drop-In Sessions

New Moodle 4.3 resources for staff and students

Following the recent upgrade to Moodle 4.3, the Learning Technology team has been hard at work updating and creating new resources to support both staff and students for the upcoming academic year.

We’ve developed a series of helpful guidance videos, including Introduction to Moodle for Students: Login and My Modules, Introduction to Moodle for Students: Personalise the Dashboard, Coursework Submissions with Turnitin Assignments, Coursework Submissions with Moodle Assignments, and ExamSys Introduction for Students. For staff, we’ve expanded our library to over 250 Workspace guidance pages covering everything from setting up modules, adding activities and resources, and the enrolment and management of students. Additionally, students can access tailored pages with a comprehensive FAQs, ensuring students have all the information they need.

Be sure to check out the Moodle 4.3: New Features guidance video, which offers a quick and valuable overview of the latest updates.

Student drop-ins

Starting the week of 30th September, the Learning Technology team will be hosting weekly drop-in sessions for students to ask any questions about Moodle. These sessions will take place across all campuses, providing an opportunity to share top tips and address any queries—ranging from general navigation to submission of assignments, exams, and accessibility options.

Below are the scheduled student drop-in sessions from October to December 2024:

Mondays 10:00 – 11:30am – Hallward Library (University Park)
Tuesdays 10:00 – 11:30am – George Green Library (University Park)
Tuesdays 2:30 – 4pm – Djanogly Learning Resource Centre (Jubilee Campus)
Thursdays 10 – 11:30am – James Cameron-Gifford Library (Sutton Bonington)

These will initially be held on a trial basis for the Autumn semester. If successful, they will continue for the Spring semester.
