The iTeach Podcast Live: Teaching and Learning Conference 2025
The 2025 Teaching and Learning Conference takes place on Wednesday 16 April 2025 (Online) – Thursday 17 April 2025 (Hybrid) and you can register to attend. There will be a number of great papers across the two day conference presented by Learning Technology colleagues, but we wanted to draw your attention to a special live recording of the iTeach Online Podcast which will take place during the conference.
On the Thursday afternoon (Session 4G, 15:10-16:00) you can join producer Simon and presenters Ben, Claire and Nicholas, along with a very special panel of invited guests as they discuss the future of the Virtual Learning Environment in a live taping of a special edition of the podcast. There will also be a chance for audience members to ask their own questions of the invited panel.
This is your opportunity to take part in a live recording of the iTeach Online podcast to be broadcast at a late date through all our usual platforms.
Overview of the Session
The iTeach Online Podcast was relaunched by Learning Technology in June 2024, producing seven episodes in the new series covering topics from “AI in Education through Digital Accessibility to Virtual Reality in Teaching”.
“Podcasting in academia has the potential to be radically open…. And yet podcasting in academia is, for the most part, terrible. Recording endless reams of class or guest lectures and dumping them online is not particularly useful for opening access to knowledge” (Cook, 2018.) This podcast aims to be different. Rather than being “recorded through a wet sock by a man trapped in a cave on a windy day”, we aim to produce quality, easily listenable content that also informs its audience.
At the Teaching and Learning Conference 2025, we want to record a live episode of the podcast.
Chaired by the Associate Director of Learning Technology, a panel will discuss “The Future of VLEs. Where do we expect platforms to be in five years, and what will students want from their VLE experience?” On the panel, there will be colleagues from Learning Technology and from the academic community and student course representatives. Drawing on student feedback following a Moodle system upgrade in 2024, the discussion will look at the current experience of the VLE at Nottingham before beginning to look to the future to explore what the ideal platform will do for academic colleagues from a technological point of view and what students need from their interactions with the platform.
