Digital Accessibility Conference at UoN: Transforming the Culture

(Reading time: 1m 44s)

Almost there! It’s just over a week until our highly anticipated Digital Accessibility Conference on June 26th, 2024, which will be taking place online and is free to attend. Why not make a day of it and book out a few rooms for your staff to watch the presentations and take part in the discussions, thus encouraging everyone working on digital accessibility in your organisation to come together in the same physical space? All you need to do is register to attend the conference, and you’ll be sent a calendar invite to secure your spot.

On the day, you’ll listen to inspiring professionals from across the sector who will gather for a day packed with high-quality presentations and engaging discussions on all elements of digital accessibility, centered around the theme of cultural transformation. We see this transformation in practices and behaviour as being driven by various factors, so our talks focus around the broad elements of leadership and governance, delivering the capability, and realising the benefits.

Leadership and governance

Leaders play a crucial role in setting a vision and driving change. We want to promote the visionary thinking and effective decision-making that is currently driving forward change, while also acknowledging the challenges that may need to be overcome.

Delivering the capability

Some of the capabilities needed to facilitate change could include developing policies, best practices, training, and utilising various tools or new technologies. These capabilities collectively help ensure that change initiatives are well-planned, effectively communicated, and successfully implemented to drive forward sustainable improvements.

Realising the benefits

Promoting the benefits of change initiatives will require clear communication strategies to drive adoption while actively incorporating the student voice into the process.

What to expect

The conference features an engaging array of information sharing delivered by a range of experts from various institutions, who are all keen to share their ideas and experiences of digital accessibility. We have a varied delivery style, including,

  • Posters: Posters will be displayed, each accompanied by a video summarising its content.
  • Lightning Talks: These brief presentations, lasting about six minutes, will introduce a key idea or summarise project outcomes.
  • Short Papers: Presentations of short papers will be around 15 minutes long, followed by a few minutes for questions and answers.
  • Round Table Discussions: These 30-minute discussions will provide ample time for in-depth debate.

For more information and to help you plan your day, please view the programme of events, where you’ll find short summaries of each talk and timings.
