Price reductions – UoN Print Service

Information Services (IS) manages the UoN Print Service for staff and students at the University of Nottingham in collaboration with our service provider, Xerox. Our contract with Xerox has recently been extended and, as part of an ongoing service improvement plan, we have implemented a number of changes to the service over the summer which will directly benefit students.

Reduction in price of printing – you said, we listened!

Earlier this year we announced that we were reducing the cost of staff printing. From the start of 2017/18 session we were delighted to announce that we were also able to reduce the prices for student printing. Some key reductions are as follows:

  • A4 mono has reduced from 4.8p to 4p
  • A4 colour has reduced from 16.8p to 14p
  • A3 mono has reduced from 12.6p to 10p

Full list of print charges can be viewed on the IT Service website.

Improvements to wide-format printing

In the 2017 NSS survey, our students fed back that they thought charges for wide-format printing were too high. We’ve listened and have now reduced prices per print for the wide-format printers located in Architecture & Built Environment and Engineering. We’ve been able to achieve these savings by sourcing more sustainable and economic paper, so it’s good news for the environment too. As well as these changes, we’ve also simplified the print queues so there is now just one paper type for each wide-format printer, which should result in less waste and expense.

Here are the new prices and the old to compare.

Wide-format printing charges
Size New price Old Standard cost Old Draft cost
A0 £5 £8 £5
A1 £2.50 £4 £2.50
A2 £1.25 £2 £1.25
