International Students: Welcome from Careers!

By Ewan Henry, Senior Careers Adviser

Whether you are here on an undergraduate course, a master’s degree or a PhD, we know that studying abroad means a lot of change and with it a lot of new things that you need to learn.

This blog is here to give you some tips on how to settle in and begin the process of planning for your future!

1. Welcome videos

Watch our welcome videos to see how we can help you make the most of your time at Nottingham and make choices about what you will do after your studies.

– Watch our undergraduate video

– Watch our master’s video

– Watch our PGR video

2. International Students: Work Experience Showcase

We are hosting a work experience event specifically for international students, taking place on Wednesday 19 October. The event will showcase the various routes to gaining work experience whilst studying at the university. We will have representatives from teams across the university who will be sharing how they can support international students in securing experience. Alongside this we will have a range of workshops and seminars to help you apply for jobs successfully.

3. Careers website

Visit our dedicated webpage for international students where you will find information on how to secure a graduate job in the UK, how to get work experience, information on the support we offer, what employers look for, and more.

Planning your career and investing in those plans can be at times confusing and it is our job to support you through this process. Alongside these initial three tips, you can always book an appointment with one of our advisers.

Our role is to help you gain an understanding of what it is you want to do with your career and what you need to do to achieve that goal.
