Careers and Employability Service 101: Welcome!

Hello, Freshers! Welcome to The University of Nottingham, we hope you’re enjoying your first couple of days and that you haven’t run out of clean socks already… I know you might be a bit overwhelmed with everything that is going on but if you’re starting to think about your career, we wanted to say quick hello from our careers team. 

1. The latest internship and graduate job vacancies

First year students: did you know that you can get a part-time job while you are studying? If you are interested in earning a bit of extra cash then visit Unitemps, our internal recruitment service that advertises jobs at the University and around the local area. Something that is also worth thinking about this term is finding out about summer internships or insight days in the industry you would like to work in. Internships can be found on our vacancies service, My Career, which you can log into once you’ve registered at the University or on the company website.

Postgraduate students: did you know that graduate vacancies and internships are just one click away? Once you have your University email, you can use our vacancies service, My Career. On here you can see and apply for all of the vacancies that are advertised on the site. From event management to lab assistant roles, there is something for everyone. Also search for vacancies with Postgraduate Placements Nottingham.

2. Amazing careers events with top employers

Throughout the year we run many careers events, workshops and presentations. These range from course specific ones, such as Spotlight On… Energy to our big recruitment fairs like the Careers in Management Fair on 12 October. At all of our fairs you will be given the opportunity to speak with employers about job prospects within their company. Our website offers a wide range of advice and tips that ranges from how to prepare your CV and covering letter for part-time or graduate roles to advice on how to make the most of your free time. Whatever your career goals are for your time here in Nottingham and beyond, our website is the first place to look for answers and guidance.

4. Expert one-on-one career advice

If you’re a postgraduate and want to talk about your career opportunities and timeframes for applications, our advisers are on-hand and if you’re a first year, then we’re here to help you every step of the way  book an appointment.
