Creative Pathways internships – applications now open
By Cathy Sibley, Employability Education Projects Officer
Are you a University of Nottingham graduate interested in a career in the arts?
Interning at a theatre, international centre for dance or at the Nottingham City of Literature, means you definitely won’t be bored. You could be involved with anything from using social media, organising events, supporting workshop delivery, to reading entries for literature competitions. Plus, you’ll meet some great people along the way.
Getting a job in the creative world can be competitive and you may at times need to be resilient. However, if you can show you’ve got a real interest and passion for arts and culture, in their widest sense, then the Creative Pathways internships could be just the thing for you.
About the internships
The Creative Pathways internships, exclusive to University of Nottingham graduates, are about giving people who are under-represented in the world of arts that extra opportunity to gain experience.
The internships will last six months and you will be based at one of seven local creative organisations. You will get loads of variety, support and the chance to see as many cultural events across the seven organisations as you can fit in.
Previous graduates who have now completed their creative internships, were overwhelmingly positive about the experience.
“It has given me an unbelievable amount of hands-on experience in the arts and helped to develop my skill set. This will undoubtedly be invaluable for future jobs and projects that I undertake in the arts. I have also gained a fantastic network of people that I have and will continue to learn from.” – Dan, previous intern at Nonsuch Theatre
How to apply
Even if you do not meet the eligibility criteria for these internships, there may be other opportunities to explore by looking at some of the Nottingham Advantage Award Modules or considering future voluntary work within the sector.
If you’re not sure where to start, why not book an appointment to discuss your next steps with our team.
