2,500 students have got the Advantage – now it’s your turn!
In 2008, we launched the Nottingham Advantage Award and our team have been on a mission to give you opportunities to stand out in the competitive job market ever since.
Five years on we have 2,500 students taking part in more than 150 modules. They’re personalising their career development through our modules which build on extracurricular activities including volunteering, sport, sustainability, language learning and work experience.
We could go on about the fact that the Award won the Association of Graduate Recruiters’ graduate preparation award, or that the Award’s truly international as it’s available at the University’s China and Malaysia campuses. We could even boast about the number of graduate recruiters you can meet through the Award, or that some of the modules are run by organisations including Experian and Save the Children. But it’s probably best if we leave it to students who’ve achieved the Award to tell you why they love it…
Siobhan
Final year European politics student, Siobhan, won our Outstanding Contribution to the Community Prize supported by PwC and Teach First. She’s taken part in two Award modules and had this to say about her experiences:
“I chose my Advantage Award modules because they gave me an insight into the third sector and allowed me to make a positive impact on the community.”
Christian
Christian Middleton, a final year theology student, who won our Personal Development Prize supported by Experian, said:
“The Advantage Award has been a fantastic experience. It has greatly aided my personal development and given me the confidence to set up a second business.”
Bisola
Final year philosophy student, Bisola Majekodunmi, won our Collaboration and Communication prize, supported by BT and successfully achieved the full Award. She’s taken part in the Japanese Language module, as well as in the Inspire Mentoring Scheme and Save the Children Enterprise Scheme. Bisola said:
“The Advantage Award gave me recognition for the skills I’ve gained and allowed me to market myself as a well-round graduate to employers.”
Davis
Second year law student, Davis Chuan, won our High Performance Prize, sponsored by Accenture, said:
“The Advantage Award has been an exciting and remarkable journey. I was constantly challenged by the modules to improve myself and make myself more employable.”
