Biosafety Training Workshop

This is a message from Sandy Loh (Sandy.Loh@nottingham.edu.my). Please respond directly to Sandy, if you want to register, or want to know more.

UNMC IBC and Department of Biosafety NRE, will be jointly organising a 2-day Biosafety Training Workshop tentatively scheduled on 3rd and 4th June 2014 at UNMC.

The scope of the workshop includes Introduction of modern biotechnology, Malaysian Biosafety Act and Regulation, IBC guidelines, containment facilities and work practices, Risk assessment and management of GMOs.

This workshop is targeted to IBC members; relevant technical staff, principle investigators (project leaders), research assistants/associates (RAs) and postgraduates (PGs) from Faculties of Science and Engineering who have been (or going to be) involving modern biotechnology activities.

Please reply to Sandy to indicate interest in joining the workshop (do include your RA/PG name) and write a sentence to describe your current research (even teaching) work or potential interest in near future. As the participant number is limited to 30 in total, we will give priority to those with higher relevance in research areas.

We need to know the number of interested participant now in order to ease the discussion with Department of Biosafety and subsequent arrangement. I hope to get your response by 28 Feb 2014.
