Our libraries

We have eight UK libraries open year-round, often 24/7. You will need your University Card for access from Monday 7 October.

Visit our website for library locations and opening times.

As well as a wide collection of resources, our libraries also offer a mix of study spaces, PCs, multi-functional devices for printing, copying and scanning and laptop loans.

Library study rooms can be booked for up to three hours using your Office 365 calendar.

– Book up to two weeks in advance
– You can only have one active booking at a time

Borrowing books

You will need your University Card to borrow books using the brand-new self-service machines in libraries.

Our new self-service machines make it faster and easier to borrow books:

– Borrow or return multiple books at once
– Choose from a range of languages
– Receive automatic receipts by email

When do I need to return my books?

You can borrow up to 60 print books and your loans will auto-renew until someone else requests them.

We’ll send you an email to let you know if you need to return a book with details of when it is due back. Return requested books on time to avoid fines of £1 a day.

More about borrowing

Keep up to date

Check your library account on NUsearch or University email inbox regularly for updates on your library loans.

We will send you an email every Monday with a summary of your recent library activity including books on loan and fines.

If you need to return a book, we will email you to let you know your book hasn’t auto-renewed and when it is due back.
