Girls’ Night In returned and was a huge hit!

Girls’ Night In returns after an 18-month COVID break and what a night it was!

On Sunday 7 November, over 225 girls descended upon the David Ross Sports Village for another hugely successful Girls’ Night In.

Organised by the Just Play team, the evening filled with ‘fun, fitness and freebies’ was aimed at encouraging and increasing participation from girls in a safe and welcoming environment.

The evening began at 7pm on the dot with branded hand sanitisers (a cheeky little nod to COVID) given to all those who had pre-registered. Attendees couldn’t wait to get involved with Boxing, Wheelchair Basketball and Ultimate taster sessions, and the newly introduced craft zone – which was a huge hit!

Our Sports Injury Clinic provided free massages through our placement students, and we welcomed back Red Bull, Hire Magic Mirror, and Another You Face Painter to keep attendees occupied in our chill zone. The addition of Power Plate was welcomed by all and many of the girls enjoyed a shoulder massage using their vibrating massage guns.

Daniella Dutton, Participation Sport Development Officer commented:

“After the pandemic, it was amazing to be able to bring Girls’ Night In back to campus and see so many girls getting involved. All taster sessions were packed, attendees looked as though they were having a fantastic time and there were smiles all round.”

Overall, the event was a huge success! Sme of the keywords used by attendees at the event were: fun, empowering, safe, and exciting. One student commented “An incredible event… I’m already looking forward to the next one!”.

The event will run again in March 2022 and tie in with International Women’s Day, so make sure you keep an eye out for the date in the New Year!

In the meantime, check out our Girls’ Night In photo gallery and get tagging yourselves!

A huge thank you to all ambassadors, session leaders, external vendors and volunteers who helped make the evening a huge success – let’s face it, we couldn’t run the event without you!
