Fancy a game? No commitments, no trials, just sport!

By Andriana Petrova

Love playing sports with friends? Want to try a new sport or improve old skills?

We have the perfect opportunity for you! The UoN Engage Programme is an exciting project that provides extra sporting opportunities for all students that doesn’t require a gym membership. That’s right; you can now enjoy your favourite sport without having to buy a sports membership. Not only that, our sessions are free of trials, involve no commitment, and are open to all abilities. We run both beginner sessions, led by qualified coaches, and social sessions, coordinated by student-volunteers. All you have to do is choose a sport, show up and join in!

What sports do we have?

This term we have 26 different sports for you to try! Some of them, such as Netball, Korfball, and Basketball, you may recognise from Term 1. Others, like Trampoline, Gym Fit and Ballestics, are brand new. You may not know what they are now but you’ll love them if you try them. You can find out more about these sports and all of the other we have on offer here, but why not go to the session and try them?

If this isn’t enough, we also run one-off events that are completely free of charge, combining a fun sports session with lifestyle activities and lots of freebies. Our last event, Girls Night In, was an evening full of fun, fitness and freebies.

The Engage programme provides you with a great way to spend your free time, meet new people and stay active all while having fun. The great thing is there is no signing up and no commitment; you can just drop-in at any session, at any time! Here is what one of our participants said about the programme:

“Going to Engage sessions is great. I go to Badminton sessions once sometimes twice a week, and absolutely love it! I get to meet new people every time but I have also become friends with the other regulars at the session. The coordinator is really good too, he is friendly, makes sure the games are running smoothly, and even gives me some tips if I ask him.”
