The road to BUCS Nationals: Katie Snowden

The BUCS Nationals start today, and amongst the many teams and athletes representing Nottingham will be sports scholar Katie Snowden, taking part in the 800m and 1500m events throughout the weekend. With personal best times of 2:03.46 in the 800m and 4:18.71 in the 1500m, Katie hopes to follow her successes in 2013 and 2014.

How did you first get involved in your sport?

A PE teacher at my secondary school suggested I join an athletics club, so I went down to my local track aged 12/13 and have carried on training ever since.

What does a typical week look like for you?

I train 8 times a week, and each session lasts up to 2 hours (driving to and from training takes another hour and a half). I also have 12 hours of lectures for my Geography course which are spread out Monday to Friday.
