UNMC Researchers Win Awards in IIDEX 2015

Researchers from the Centre of Food and Bio-product Processing, Manufacturing and Industrial Processes Research Division, Faculty of Engineering have won several awards in Invention, Innovation & Design Exposition (iidex2015), an annual International Exhibition and Competition, organized by Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) from 27 – 30 April 2015 at UiTM campus, Shah Alam.

The winners were presented with medals and certificates during the award ceremony. The following inventions were awarded medals by the judges:

Ir. Prof. Law Chung Lim (Project leader)

Gan Shu Hui, Ng Mei Xiang and Tham Thing Chai (PhD students)

  • IR ASSISTED DRYING SYSTEM COUPLED WITH UV DISINFECTION SYSTEM (SILVER MEDAL)
  • UV ASSISTED STORAGE CABINET WITH STORAGE ENVIRONMENT CONTROL (BRONZE MEDAL)

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hii Ching Lik (Project leader)

Abhay S. Menon (PhD student)

  • TRANSFORMING UNDERUTILIZED MALAYSIAN FRUITS INTO VALUE ADDED AND NUTRITIOUS PRODUCTS USING NOVEL TECHNIQUES (SILVER MEDAL)

Dr Ong Sze Pheng (Project leader)

  • AIR FRYING -A NOVEL WAY TO PRODUCE LOCAL FRUIT SNACK (BRONZE MEDAL)

Dr Show Pau Loke (Project leader)

  • AQUEOUS TWO-PHASE FLOTATION (ATPF): A NEW PROTEIN RECOVERY SYSTEM (SILVER MEDAL)

“This is the first time we participated in this event and we have won medals in all the submitted entries under innovation and invention categories. This remarkable level of success is consistent with our research excellence status at UNMC” said Dr Hii.
