The centre will involve multiple Schools within the University and is headed by Professor Melanie Leng, newly appointed to the role of director who will also take up a chair in the School of Geography at the UK campus. The Centre has a number of funded PhD students and postdoctoral researchers associated with it, and includes researchers with interests in the tropics. As part of this development Dr Suzanne McGowan from the UNMC campus has been appointed as a Visiting Research Associate at BGS.
