UNMC-IEM Student Chapter Activities: Visit to Proton Manufacturing Plant and Engineering Leadership Program

Visit to Proton manufacturing plant, Shah Alam: A group of 40 students including 2 lecturers from the Faculty of Engineering have recently visited the Proton manufacturing plant in Shah Alam on 3rd December 2013. Accompanying them were two lecturers from the Faculty of Engineering Dr Hii Ching Lik (student advisor, UNMC-IEM) and Mr Chen Khin Fai. The students departed from UNMC at 8 am and arrived at the Proton manufacturing plant, Shah Alam at 9:30a.m. The visit was guided by Mr Shafiq (Proton) and accompanied by a 2 technical staffs. The students were then brought to the Saga assembly line (about 1 km walking distance) to have a more detailed view of the production steps such as welding, wheel, door and window assembling, engine assembling, body painting, alignment-balancing and test driving. The students also took the chance to ask about career advice and opportunities in the car industry towards the end of the tour. The visit ended at 12 pm after lunch refreshment hosted by Proton and Mr Shafiq presented Proton souvenir books to all the students before leaving.
