IEM Research Paper Competition

A PhD student, Rex T. L. Ng from The University of Nottingham, Malaysia was announced as a winner at the IEM Research Paper Competition after the contestant’s final presentation at Wisma IEM in Petaling Jaya on 30 March 2013.

IEM Research Paper Competition, organised by Chemical Engineering Technical Division (CETD), The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM). This competition is organised in conjunction with the 15th APCChE Congress (Asian Pacific Confederation of Chemical Engineering) to be held from 18 to 23 August 2013 at Coex, Seoul, Korea. In this competition, two travelling grants (RM 3,000 each) were rewarded to the winners of the competition to attend and present their papers at 15th APCChE Congress. This competition was opened to active chemical/biochemical/process engineering postgraduate students in Malaysia. Two PhD students (Rex T. L. Ng and Ng Lik Yin) from Department of Chemical & Environmental Engineering, The University of Nottingham, Malaysia were shortlisted as two out of six finalists for oral presentation.

El-Halwagi for providing valuable guidance and encouragement in producing this high quality research paper,” said  Rex T. L. Ng. Ng is currently second year PhD student who worked under supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Denny K. S. Ng and Assoc. Prof. DDr. Hon Loong Lam.  “I hope that our collaborative works will always be recognised by both academics and the industry,” he added. To facilitate the research collaboration, Ng had his research attachment under Prof. Dr. Mahmoud M. El-Halwagi and Prof. Dr. Mario R. Eden in Texas A&M University and Auburn University, United States in October to December 2012. In addition, he also worked under Prof. Dr. Raymond R. Tan, De La Salle University, Philippines in April 2013.
