Open Access Publishing

This week, we were fortunate enough to have a visit by Jenny Coombs who is one of the Faculty Team Leaders from the UK, who is responsible for a team of people within the library (Jenny is actually based in the George Green Library, for those of you that have visited the UK campus).

Part of the reason for Jenny’s visit was to talk about Open Access publishing and she gave an open invite talk on Wed 20th March.

Open Access is gradually maturing as a way of publishing scientific papers and more information is available at the following links.

  1. Information Services: Open Access pages
  2. WorkSpace: Meeting the cost of Open Access Research (this requires you to login)
  3. Sherpa/Romeo: this is a useful site to check on the open access policy of a given journal

We are currently looking a revised policy on Open Access, which we hope will be available in the next couple of weeks, subject to Management Board approval.

Once available, we will provide details in a future blog post.
