Ask an international student: Why did you choose Nottingham?

We asked a group of our EU and international students, why did you choose to study at The University of Nottingham?

I’m lucky enough to have a brother that’s also studying at The University of Nottingham. From the stories he told me, this University seemed like such a great place to be. And he wasn’t wrong! This is one of the biggest reasons as to why I’ve chosen Nottingham, but to make sure that it would be a good fit for me as much as it was for him, I researched about the University extensively. I quickly realised that there’s more to the University than just a fun place to be. It’s got great career prospects, as it is one of the targets for top graduate recruiters, and also amazing careers services which will be there for you for life. That was when I realised that this would be the perfect university for me.

Rebecca, Italy, BA International Media and Communications Studies with beginners’ Spanish

I chose to study at Nottingham because it was the only university that had the exact course I was interested in, and because after having seen the campus I thought it would be the perfect place for me.

The reason I chose to study at The University of Nottingham is mainly because it is part of the Russell Group and it offers my favorite course (Joint Honours French and Contemporary Chinese Studies); a course that not many universities are able to offer. Also, I like to believe that by studying here, I will be able to build a career in teaching or translating, something that will open new horizons in my future.

The fact that the campus is the greenest in the world and it is in harmony with nature also positively influenced my decision to study here. We have wildfowl around all three campuses, not to mention the mesmerizing lake where you can also spend your time studying on sunny days.

Shiv, UAE, MEng Chemical Engineering

I could not resist Nottingham’s world class reputation and outstanding graduate employability.

Eve, China, International Media and Communication Studies

Nottingham chose me right after I sent out my application. At the time I held five offers but made a sudden decision of changing my course therefore put myself into UCAS clearing system. I love my course – International Media and Communication Studies – although learning a second foreign language (French) and doing an arts subject in English are much harder than I expected.

Hazel, Malaysia, LLB Law

The campus style environment offered by the university really caught my heart. I have always wanted to study in a safe campus where everything is conveniently located in one site.

We have places available for well-qualified international applicants on some of our undergraduate courses. Please visit our website for more information.
