Golfer’s Block

There’s no denying. I have the inescapable ‘Writer’s block’. After 2 years for the first time, I’ve spent the best part of two weeks, stroking my stubble and tapping on my chin to no avail. I’ve been trying to write a piece to congratulate the many graduates from Nottingham this year, amongst whom are some of my closest friends. The fact of the matter is I’m not ready to say goodbye and when I do say goodbye I’d like my ode to them to be worth a read rather than just a last minute spout ahead of 12pm on a Tuesday night. (So you’ll have to hang on for me when I’m ready).

So what has added to this severe case of writer’s block. Well the fact I’ve been up to nothing. With my now expired passport I’m stranded in the country, with nothing filling my days except for work, which I’ve spoken about many times in the blog with the monthly trips home to complete training and whilst I’m sure it was riveting I can’t keep harking back to that (but I have landed some regular teaching hours which is awesome but does mean I actually have to learn the children’s names now!)

Aaaand golf! Yup the sport that is barely a sport is my secret hobby. At University I leave the clubs behind but when I’m back for summer depending on my mood I dibble and dabble for a few months as it’s the only sport I’m probably OK at! This year I’ve got the bug back and been playing several times a week in my quest to actually get to a respectable level (a handicap under 10) which I’m currently 4.9 away from!

Last weekend was the club championships, the big competition of the year that I was trying desperately to be in form for, unfortunately that wasn’t the case and I endured as miserable a weekend as you can when you are outside on a sunny day in this lovely environment.

I’m pretty happy spending most of my day somewhere pretty like this.

Alas as I wasn’t playing well my view of the golf course is normally a little different than this clear image above.

Yup, this is more like me. Looking for my ball in the trees.

Eventually I manage to get the damn thing to go where it should!

Outside of the competitions I’ve been lucky to have a few friends to go round the course with which of course makes the whole thing more enjoyable. So there’s my guilty admission I’m a golfer!

What's a bit of golf without a totally not set up selfie?

So that’s all I can say really! In terms of my blog I hope it’ll change and I’ll end up on some mad adventure or another but in reality I’m quite happy kicking back and enjoying myself! See you all soon!
