Getting the best out of your Sport & Fitness Membership in 2022!

With the majority of students now returned to campus and well underway with term two, we wanted to provide a reminder of all that’s on offer with UoN Sport. From access to our fantastic campus-wide facilities, to being able to utilise the knowledge of our expert fitness team, you can #FindYourActive this year without leaving the university grounds! The best way to take advantage of all of the benefits on offer is to become a part of the #GreenandGold with a Sport & Fitness Membership.

State-of-the-art Facilities

Our three campus facilities (David Ross, Jubilee and Sutton Bonington) are located as conveniently as possible, right near your halls and lectures to ensure that you can easily access our gyms and courts, as well as the 25m swimming pool at David Ross Sports Village if you fancy a dip to cool off! When inside our gym, you will find the latest in fitness technology, from Wattbikes to a Boditrax machine that helps to measure you progress as you work towards your fitness goals! You can also enhance your membership and experience by relaxing in our Health and Wellbeing Suite that includes a sauna and steam room at David Ross.

A knowledgeable & welcoming staff

If you’re new to the gym or are looking to take your workouts to the next level, our expert team are here to help you achieve your goals. Our qualified instructors can help you acclimatise to our gym setting by running through an induction, including the basics of how to use the equipment correctly, safely and effectively. This also includes the opportunity to attend one of our lifting workshops. If you are new to weight training, these clinics are perfect for learning the fundamentals. Small group sessions cover the important aspects of the three major compound lift styles; deadlift, press and squats. We focus on technique, safety and ways to improve your performance.

Once your comfortable using the facilities, why not make the most of our instructors by having a 1-2-1 session from which, they can design a specific programme to help you reach your goals and make the most out of your time in the fitness suite. If you ever think you need some guidance on your fitness routine or that your training has plateaued, then you can always book in for a fitness programme!

Group Exercise and Fitness Classes

Across our facilities we have a wide choice of fitness classes that are a great complement to any training programme. Our class schedule ensures that there are a variety of class options available to you every single day, including favourites such as Functional Circuits and Indoor Cycling (spin). Whether you are looking to build strength or endurance, we will have a great option for you to exercise with others in a supportive environment. As part of our fitness class schedule we provide a range of the highly popular Les Mills programme, including the world’s most popular weight class – Body Pump™!

Discover new sports and play regularly on campus

If you love to play sport or are thinking of trying something new, then we have options for you to do just that! Our IMS programme presents the opportunity for you to represent halls, courses and societies across many sports, whilst our Just Play programme allows you to try a new sport in a friendly and comfortable environment. Both of these programmes run weekly schedules throughout term, and help to create a superb sporting atmosphere on campus alongside our sports clubs. If you’d like to join one of our sports clubs, then you can find a full list of links on our website to our 70+ clubs that cater for all abilities.

Climb to new heights with our state-of-the-art climbing and bouldering wall

As part of a UoN Sport & Fitness Membership, you have access to our 12m high climbing wall and 3.5m high bouldering wall. Both over 40+ options for routes and problems which range in difficulty, presenting a fun challenge regardless of ability. If you are new to climbing or would like to improve then our team can help you with our learn to climb sessions, as well as offer inductions on how to use the walls safely.
