UoN Sport Scholar in Focus – Emily Hollingworth

Wednesday 7th November will see the University of Nottingham Netball 1s face Nottingham Trent 1s in a BUCS league fixture as both teams compete for the league title and ultimately promotion into the BUCS Northern Premier League.

The game is set to featureUoN Netball Scholar, Emily Hollingworth, who has recently signed for Loughborough Lighting since starting her Masters at the University of Nottingham this year. Loughborough Lightning are currently ranked 2nd in the Vitality Superleague Netball rankings 2018 only 3 points behind league leaders Wasps Netball.

Making the move from Team Northumbria, 21 year old centre court player Hollingworth will further strengthen UoN and Lightning’s mid-court. Originally from Huddersfield, Emily’s playing career began at Yorkshire Jets where she was a regular feature in the NPL side, before gaining international level experience in the England age group pathways, most recently at U21 level.

Having resided in Northumbria for the past three years whilst studying for her undergraduate degree, Hollingworth had a mixed experience, featuring heavily in her first year before missing a year due to an ACL injury. Last season she cemented her place back in the side before choosing to embark on a new adventure this season with University of Nottingham and Loughborough Lightning.

After having sat out of the last few weeks fixtures due to injury Emily is back and ready to help UoN Netball claim top spot in the BUCS Midlands 1A league and move one step closer to promotion to the BUCS Premier league.”
