Countdown to the 10th Anniversary of the Tri Campus Games is underway

The 2018 Tri Campus Games will celebrate its 10th Anniversary when the action gets underway in Nottingham on the 24th June.

Each year the Tri Campus Games brings together students from the three University of Nottingham campuses (UK, China and Malaysia) to compete against each other in a range of up to 20 specialist sports and campus-team challenges.

This is a unique event within higher education, taking place at a different one of the University’s international campuses each year and involving nearly 200 student athletes from over 20 different nations. Underpinned by the ethos ‘friendship through sport’, the Games offer a fantastic opportunity for sporting and educational exchange in the friendly spirit of competition.

The event involves nearly 200 students of more than 20 nationalities, combining into three international campus-based teams as well as student based media, reporting and web-support teams.

The games offer a genuine opportunity to develop ‘Friendship Through Sport,’ allowing sporting and educational exchanges in a friendly spirit of competition that only an event of this nature can engender. A cultural programme of visits and events runs in parallel with the Games.

Previous Competitors

Team UK
Jordan Waite – Men’s Basketball

“My experience of Tri Campus was one of enjoyment and friendship. China was a country that I’d always wanted to visit and to be able to be able to go through the university was incredible. Our hosts were very hospitable and proud to show us round their country.”

Germán Olivares Merlos – Men’s Basketball
As a basketball player and Nottingham student, I was fortunate to be selected to represent UK team in the event disputed in China in 2014, and Malaysia campus for the 7th Tri Campus Games held in the UK in 2015. having the chance to participate in 2 editions was something that I could have never dreamed of. In addition, winning both of of them and being awarded with the Male Spirit recognition was the cherry on top of the cake.

Team Malaysia
Tan Kiat Weng – Badminton

“Over the years participating in the TCG, I have made many new friends not only from Malaysia but from many other countries. I think this is why the TCG is such a unique event, because it brings people with the same passion for sports together into an international multi-sport event. I am very grateful for being able to participate in all 3 countries and will always treasure these special memories. Kudos to all organizing committee for being able to put together this exceptional event for 10 years. Happy 10th Anniversary! ”

Moreetsi Chillie Kediseng – Men’s Football

I had the opportunity to be part of the second TCG hosted by Malaysia. The games were well organized and very competitive, but it gave us chance to socialize more with our sister universities. We had amazing night activities, we made friends that are still our friends today. Unfortunately for us (UNMC football team), we failed to get Gold for the second year running. The third TCG were held in Ningbo, China, truly amazing games. I had the best time of my varsity life, and for the very first time, UNMC scooped gold in soccer men. I was part of history. There was a lot of cultural exchange in China, and to top it, we were taken to Shanghai for 2 days. China was lit.

Tri Campus Games History

Founded at the UK Campus in 2009, the Tri Campus Games took place in Malaysia in 2010 and Ningbo China in 2011, before returning to the UK Campus to coincide with the 2012 Olympic Torch Relay visiting Nottingham.

Team UK Selection is managed by Sports Club Presidents or via Intra-Mural based competitions, so that all students have the opportunity to compete for places in their ‘national’ teams in our wide range of sports.
