University of Nottingham Sport Volunteer of the Month – January
University of Nottingham Sport’s Leadership Academy continues to go from strength-to-strength with over 120 student leaders recording over 800 volunteering hours in the Autumn term alone.
With so much great work happening across our sports clubs and programmes – we’ve introduced a brand new Volunteer of the Month award for 2018!
Each month we’ll showcase one volunteer who’s demonstrated an exceptional commitment to making a real difference in their local community, both on and off-campus.
January Volunteer of the Month – Aasem Alabdullatief
We are delighted to announce that our first Volunteer of the Month accolade has been awarded to Aasem Alabdullatief.
Aasem is the current IMS Volleyball Officer – a voluntary student role running the popular intramural volleyball leagues on campus.
With a passion for development, Aasem has driven forward the league with more teams now entered than ever before. His rapport with the teams and their captains is excellent and this has led to a 100% fixture completion rate in the league to date. He’s worked hard to engage with the international community on campus to encourage new students to get involved with the league and work with new teams for 2018/19.
Aasem balances his role alongside studying for a PhD within the Architecture and Built Environment Department so really is one of the most organised volunteers in the Academy!
Glynn Dignum, Intramural Sport Coordinator, commented;
“Aasem has been instrumental in creating and really successful IMS Volleyball league, with a real focus on quality of delivery. He is a pleasure to work with – calm, polite and professional and I’m delighted to see him recognised as our first Volunteer of the Month.”
As a thank you Aasem recieves a gift voucher from our partners at the Clubhouse Café in David Ross Sports Village. From everyone at University of Nottingham Sport – well done and thank you Aasem!
