Team of the Week: Ladies Table Tennis 2nd
Our Team of the week this week is the two girls from Table Tennis Ladies 2nd team! Managing to steal a closely fought game against Loughborough 3-2.
Apprehensive against local our rivals Loughborough, who feature some very talented players this season, beating Nottingham 5-0 in their first match of the season back in October.
Captaining the team is one of Nottingham’s sports scholars Letitia McMullen along with her teammate Amy Hutchings, both performed incredibly well throughout the day. Letitia winning both her singles matches and Amy winning one, with an unfortunate close loss of 3-2 in the doubles. However, by this stage the girls had already done enough to smash a win.
Highlights of the game included Letitia being down 8-4 in her singles against Loughborough’s number 1 but amazingly managed to bring it all the way back to 10-8, leading to a win of 11-9 in the 5th!
Both girls were proud of their performances which lead to them ending up in 3rd position in the BUCS Midlands 1A table, with Nottingham’s 1st team being top of the league.
Their goal for the rest of the season being to remain in 3rd position in their league, overtaking Nottingham Trent 1’s as well as Birmingham and Warwick.
Well done to both Letitia and Amy! Keep it up!
