ANN: Fifth “Young Scholars Workshop” (phd-/postdoctoral research) on “Taiwan in the Global Arena”, 2-9 July 2017, Tübingen University, Germany (closing date: 30 March 2017)

The European Research Center on Contemporary Taiwan – A CCK Foundation Overseas Center at Eberhard Karls University Tübingen (Germany) will hold a workshop for early career scholars from 2 July to 9 July, 2017. This year’s workshop will place a particular emphasis on the subject:
“Taiwan in the Global Arena”
However, papers on other topics related to Taiwan and cross-Strait relations are also welcome.

Ph.D. students (3rd year and above) and postdocs of the social sciences working on academic projects related to Taiwan or China are invited to submit their application.
The workshop will provide young scholars with the opportunity to:
– present their research to an international audience;
– engage in scholarly exchange on topics related to theory and methodology;
– fine-tune the theoretical framework of their respective research projects;
– get to know Tübingen, the CCKF-ERCCT and its university;
– take part in our Taiwan Documentary Film Festival (July 7-8)

Ten to twelve early career scholars (five to six each from Europe and Taiwan) will be invited to attend. Travel expenses and accommodation will be fully covered by the CCKF-ERCCT. After the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be asked to provide a short paper which will be published online in the “CCKF-ERCCT Online Paper Series”.
