Support for staff
What support is in place for staff who are concerned about the changes being introduced by Project Transform?
Any period of change in an institution or organisation can be an anxious time for staff involved, especially when the change is on the scale of something as large as Project Transform. This is often amplified when there’s a level of uncertainty about what your role within the new structure might entail. With that in mind, it’s important to know that there are a number of support mechanisms in place for staff who are affected by Project Transform. Below you will find a list of these support services along with links or advice on how to access them.
Your line manager – If you want to find out more about Project Transform and how the changes being introduced might affect you personally, then speak to your line manager in the first instance. They will be able to advise you on where to find more information.
Human Resources – For clarification on the University policies and procedures that are in place, you can contact HR, who can also provide confidential advice on personal matters. Email HR-Transform@nottingham.ac.uk or hrer@nottingham.ac.uk.
Supporting you through transition – We understand that over the coming months there will be uncertainty, change and new ways of working to adapt to as the new organisational structures evolve and settle. We are therefore developing a programme of on-going workshops and broader support activities to help you through this journey. These will reflect the different stages of transition you will be going through, and will focus on supporting you personally as well as enhancing your existing professional skills. The initial series of sessions will be scheduled soon, to which you will be invited. If you want to know more, contact Carol Steed, Leadership and Management Director on carol.steed@nottingham.ac.uk / 0115 84 66772.
Professional Development – We recognise that any period of change can be a difficult time to navigate and that many staff may not have previous experience of this. With this in mind, Professional Development has made available a number of Wellbeing courses, Change and Engagement workshops and support with CV writing and interview skills in order to help staff cope with these changes. These can be found at www.nottingham.ac.uk/csc.

Whatever your concerns about Project Transform, it’s important to talk about them. It’s likely that your peers also share similar concerns about the upcoming changes, so don’t be afraid to talk about them with those around you if you’re comfortable doing so. We also encourage colleagues to feed back directly to the project with their concerns, and this can be done by emailing HR-Transform@nottingham.ac.uk.
