The programmes launch by Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (WinSET 2014) was successfully launched by Y. Bhg. Prof. Dr. Raha binti Abdul Rahim, Director of the Higher Education Excellence Planning Division (BPKI), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education on 9 September 2014. WinSET Organizing Committee was chaired by Professor Ir Chong Mei Fong (UNMC) and co-chaired by Dr. Elizabeth Sheppard (UNMC) and Ms. Geetha Baskaran (UMNC). There were about 120 participants attended this event at the Great Hall (UNMC) from different organization, included University of Malaya, Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO), All Women’s Action Society (AWAM), Natural Wellness Biotech (M) Sdn Bhd, Malaysia Lab Academia, The National University of Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation, University of Reading Malaysia, The Malay Mail Online, The Star Publications, The New Straits Times Press, The Sun Daily, and Berita Harian.
The welcome speech was presented by Professor Chong Mei Fong, WinSET Chair, while opening speech was presented by Professor Christine Ennew, Provost and CEO (UNMC). A total of 11 posters were presented by staffs and students. The topics covered included how to develop your CV in the duration of your study, goal setting and what you can achieve in these coming three years. Keynote sessions were delivered by Y. Bhg. Prof. Dr. Adeeba Kamarul Zaman(Dean, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya) and Ms. Shahnas Oli Mohamed (Managing Director, Natural Wellness Biotech (M) Sdn Bhd). The role play session was delivered by Professor Christine Ennew and Dr. Ahimsa Campos-Arceiz (Associate Professor, School of Geography, UMNC). There is a panel discussion on women’s right, whereby the moderator is Professor Graham Kendall (Vice-Provost for Research & Knowledge Transfer, UNMC) and the six panel members included Professor Chong Mei Fong, Ms. Ivy Josiah (Executive Director of WAO), Ms. Ho Yok Lin (Executive Director of AWAM), Mr. Pragalath Kumar (Online Journalist, Malay Mail), Dr. June McCombie (School of Chemistry, the University of Nottingham UK campus) and Mr. Sanjiv Indran (Research Assistant, UNMC). The aims of the event were to encourage all gender to explore their leadership potential within academic life, or within an administrative career. It provides an important platform to meet people not just internally but also externally and internationally who are successful in their own way.
The best oral and poster papers were presented to the following participants for their outstanding presentation during the event:

- Mr Jaya Kumar Karunagharan, an assistant professor teaching foundation of science in Faculty of science UNMC.
Best poster presentation (Staff Category):
- Ms Sadia Afreen, a first year postgraduate students under chemical and environmental engineering in Faculty of engineering UNMC.
