Research Leaders Programme: Visit to UNMC
It was our pleasure this week to host a group of our UK based colleagues who are participating in the Research Leaders Programme.
This programme is designed to identify and develop promising individuals with the University via a twelve month training programme. As part of that training, they have to visit one of the international campuses. We hosted six of the participants, with the other half of the cohort visiting Ningbo at the same time.
I think (hope) that all concerned found it a very informative and productive week.
On the first day (Mon 18th Nov 2013) the team visited the campus. It was a great opportunity to show off the campus, as none of them had been here before.
On that first day, we introduced them to UNMC via meetings and presentations with the Management Board, the Business Engagement team, Research Training and Academic Development and the Professoriate. The team were also fortunate to be able to attend the Robin Grimes lecture.
For the next two and a half days, the group worked at KLTC, developing a presentation that they delivered on Thursday (21st Nov 2013) afternoon. Their aim was to take a look at UNMC and provide some strategic ideas and opportunities. They presented these to Management Board on Thursday afternoon. We were also fortunate to have Andrew Unitt (the relatively new Chief Financial Officer of the University of Nottingham) join us for this presentation.
We are very grateful to the team. The ideas they came up with, will inform and help us as we refine our plans for the near and medium term.
Of course, it was not all work, as some of the pictures below show!
Thanks for making us all so welcome. We all found the experience really worthwhile and are pleased to hear that you will be taking some of our recommendations forward in your future planning. Thanks again!
Thanks Kim
