What is your affiliation?
Whilst preparing for MyRA, and looking through some of our publications, it is apparent that we have many different ways of stating our affiliation. Just to give you a few examples (and this is non-scientific sample) (the Faculties/Schools/Departments have been hidden to protect the innocent):
- Univ Nottingham, ??????, Semenyih, Selangor Darul, Malaysia
- Nottingham, ?????, Malaysia Campus, Jalan Broga 43500, Semenyih, Malaysia
- Univ Nottingham Malaysia Campus, ??????, Semenyih, Malaysia
- Univ Nottingham Malaysia Campus, ???????, Semenyih 43500, Selangor, Malaysia
None of these are wrong but having so many variations (and there are many more) makes it difficult (sometimes impossible) to track down all the papers that we have published at UNMC.
At the next Research Strategy Committee meeting we plan to discuss this issue to see if we can come up with a recommendation as to how we should state our affiliation. If you have any views, please comment on this post, or let your Director of Research know.
The conventional way of writing address in Malaysia is:
(Department), (Faculty), The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus,
Jalan Broga, 43500 Semenyih, Selangor (Darul Ehsan), Malaysia.
*Note: There should be a comma after the name of the road (Jalan Broga) and no comma between the postcode (43500) and the name of the town (Semenyih). “Darul Ehsan” can be omitted or abbreviated as “D.E.”
Hi Graham – what is your view, how do you recommend to state UNMC’s affiliation?
Thanks!
Ahimsa, the preferred version is “The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus”
