If you hold an offer to study at The University of Nottingham, you might be lucky enough to receive a call from one of our international students. Mexican student Nuria has been speaking to Latin American students about everything from accommodation to scholarships.

Why did you choose to study at Nottingham?

In every ranking I at looked I found The University of Nottingham in the top 70 universities worldwide so it got my attention. I started looking for Masters in Physiotherapy and I found the ideal one for me.

What is your favourite thing about living in Nottingham?

gigs 600x400

My favourite thing is that music events are always present. Last November I went to the Mumford and Sons concert at the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham, and in January I went to see The Kooks at Rock City.

Where is your favourite place in Nottingham, and why?

Greenhouse 600x400

My favourite place is the greenhouse inside Wollaton Park. The place has beautiful flowers and is really quiet, perfect to enjoy reading a good book.

Where is your favourite place to eat out in Nottingham, and why?

White Rabbit 600x400

White Rabbit is a little tea house in the heart of the city centre. It has wonderful homemade cakes and accessible prices.

Are you part of any societies?

I am part of the Mexican society.

What’s the most frequently asked question students ask you, and what advice do you give them?

The most frequently asked question is: Is it hard to communicate with your professors? Considering English is not your first language.

Answer: The professors are always nice and willing to help us, they are aware English is not our first language so they speak slowly.

What’s your number one tip for international/EU students coming to Nottingham?

Try something new. Here in Nottingham I learnt how to play badminton and also started yoga lessons. The University offers 270 societies, find the one for you!

What are you hoping to do after you graduate/finish your course?

I will go back home to share my experience with other Mexican students and to apply everything I learnt here.
