Pitch@Palace 7.0: UK’s leading humantech businesses compete to win!

“I am very grateful to the University of Nottingham for hosting what will no doubt be an exciting Pitch@Palace Boot Camp.

Boot Camp is the opportunity for entrepreneurs to perfect their pitching skills and learn from some real experts. It is another phase in the work up towards the final at St James’s Palace in April, 2017. I really look forward to visiting Nottingham once again.” – HRH The Duke of York, KG

What is Pitch@Palace?

Pitch@Palace was founded in 2014 by The Duke of York to amplify and accelerate UK Entrepreneurs. It offers entrants the chance to get their business idea in front of a global audience of influencers including CEOs, investors, elevators and key business partners who can catapult it to the next level.

Businesses are selected to compete at Pitch@Palace, initially attending a Boot Camp where they receive support and guidance in developing and sharpening their pitches as well as understanding what their businesses need.

What is different about Pitch@Palace 7.0?

Every Pitch@Palace is themed, and the theme for Pitch@Palace 7.0 is Human Tech. Entrants will explore the potential impact of technology in our everyday lives – focusing on tech supporting our everyday needs, making our lives more efficient and augmenting our experience of the world.

This year, there will be 43 Entrepreneurs attending the Boot Camp. Further information on the 43 Entrepreneurs pitching on the day can be found here.

So what does Pitch@Palace 7.0 entail?

There are three main stages to the competition, starting with the Pitch@Palace On Tour events, which ran from 18th January to 24 February in Sunderland, Birmingham and Cardiff. These On Tour events provided Entrepreneurs from across the United Kingdom with the opportunity to connect with local stakeholders and receive mentoring to develop their businesses.

Winners from each On Tour event were selected to attend Pitch@Palace Boot Camp hosted by The University of Nottingham on Wednesday 15 March 2017. The Boot Camp provides 43 Entrepreneurs with the opportunity to hear from leading industry experts and Pitch@Palace Alumni. All participants are asked to pitch to a Panel of Judges, who will select up to 15 Entrepreneurs to Pitch at St. James’s Palace in April.

Last week, NuVision Biotherapies, a spin-out company from the University of Nottingham, attended the On Tour Birmingham event and was selected as one of the three winners. Director of the Haydn Green Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (HGI), Professor Simon Mosey was in attendance:

‘‘The On Tour Birmingham event was inspirational and I particularly enjoyed the diversity of ideas presented. We heard pioneering ideas to improve health, child safety and clean water and learnt how artificial intelligence can be used for better mental health and to encourage a sharing economy’’. – Professor Simon Mosey, Director of HGI

And now, it’s time to vote!

The People’s Choice Award is an opportunity to showcase all 43 Entrepreneurs participating in Pitch@Palace that have been selected to attend Boot Camp. Each Entrepreneur competes for the People’s Choice Award in the run up to the main Pitch@Palace event via a dedicated website. The public choose the favorite Entrepreneur after watching each of the Entrepreneurs’ Pitch videos, which are filmed at the Boot Camp. The winner of the People’s Choice Award vote is announced at the main Pitch@Palace event at St. James’s Palace.

We wish a good luck to all entrants!

The Pitch@Palace Team have assessed over 200 stellar applications and whittled it down to 43. We are so excited to be involved in such a fantastic event, and simply can’t wait to see the 43 Entrepreneurs pitching on the day!
