Blooming brilliant! Nottingham’s grounds pick up a raft of awards

The University is known for its show stopping grounds and so it should come as no surprise that UoN has bagged awards from both East Midlands and Nottingham in Bloom, as well as an RHS It’s Your Neighbourhood Award.

So what exactly did the University win?

The awards

  • East Midlands in Bloom Regional Award for Horticultural Excellence in Parks
  • Nottingham in Bloom: Award for Outstanding Contribution to Nottingham in Bloom 2013
  • RHS It’s Your Neighbourhood Award Level 4 (Thriving) Award – Sutton Bonington allotment

Rare achievement

There is just one Regional Award for Horticultural Excellence in Parks for the entire region and the Award for Outstanding Contribution to Nottingham in Bloom is rarely given out, so both point to a highly accomplished performance.

University grounds manager Desmond O’Grady was on hand to collect the awards (photo below). He said: “Given the dedicated work of our grounds and gardens staff across the campuses I believe the awards are welcome recognition of continued achievement. It’s also impressive that the student allotment at Sutton Bonington is achieving a high level of credit in the RHS awards.”
