Messages from new Faculty Directors of Teaching at UNNC

As announced by Professor Julie Sanders in her recent email, we now have three Faculty Directors of Teaching at UNNC. The Faculty Directors of Teaching are members of a newly reconfigured Campus Teaching Committee and will have representation on the UK Faculty Teaching Committees. They will also serve on the UK based Quality and Standards Committee and UNNC Academic Steering Group for the PGCHE.

“The wealth of knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm for teaching we have on our campus has long impressed me, as has our students’ response to this. I am therefore very grateful for this opportunity to contribute to the coordination and future development of our Teaching and Learning practices and policies. UNNC is now looking forward to new growth and is developing new ways of helping our students become global citizens and reflective practitioners in their chosen careers. The Faculty of Arts and Education has a special role to play in this. I therefore look forward to fruitful discussions with you on how to provide our students with the best international learning experience and our teachers with the best professional support in their efforts.”
Dr Margaret Dowens (Faculty of Arts and Education)

“I am deeply honoured to have been given this post, which comes with much responsibility. I would like to think that my time as chair of a school teaching committee and someone with national level impact in the UK can really help me do well in this, but I won’t be able to do so without the help and assistance of colleagues in the Faculty of Social Sciences. The role is a demanding one which will stretch me and develop me in loads of ways, but I hope I can do well in the post. I’m really looking forward to having regular discussions with others in the Faculty of Social Sciences on ways that we can celebrate the success of what we do, enhance that success further where issues arise and move forward where new ideas are suggested. It’s an exciting time – so thanks and sincere best wishes to all at FoSS in anticipation of those discussions.”
Dr Peter Morgan (Faculty of Social Sciences)

“I am delighted to take on the role of Director of Teaching and have an opportunity of leading Teaching and Learning in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. It is a great privilege but also great responsibility. I am fully committed to maintaining and enhancing high quality Teaching and Learning in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. I am also very excited about developing Nottingham’s Strategic vision for 2020 and transforming approach to Teaching and Learning on all three campuses of our university.”
Dr Dariusz Wanatowski (Faculty of Science and Engineering)
