Call for entries for Green Gown Awards
This year’s Green Gown Awards are now open for entries. The Awards recognise achievements in sustainability initiatives across all areas of university life – from course content and research to social media and community projects.
There’s also a new category this year – Sustainability Champion Award, that recognises the outstanding contribution of an individual, either student or staff member.
If you’re involved in any projects or work that would make a good entry or wish to nominate an individual for the Sustainability Champion Award, please contact the Sustainability team. We can work with you to develop these applications, with a view to coordinating submissions from the University.
The 14 award categories open to all universities and colleges in the UK are:
- Best Newcomer
- Carbon Reduction
- Construction and Refurbishment
- Continuous Improvement: Institutional Change
- Courses
- Facilities and Services
- Learning and Skills
- Modernisation – Effectiveness and Efficiency in the Estate
- Promoting Positive Behaviour
- Research and Development
- Social Responsibility
- Student and Staff Engagement
- Sustainability Champion Award
- Technical Innovation for Sustainability
An explanation of the categories is available from the Environmental Association of Universities and Colleges (the awards organiser), together with guidance on preparing entries.
Deadline for Stage 1 entries is Wednesday 12 June 2013.
