Hang-out spots at University Park
If you start University this month, your YouTube feed is probably full of university and campus vlogs. One of the most recurring mentions you might find is the University Park Campus. There are over 30,000 students at our University, and University Park Campus is almost big enough to accommodate ALL of us. If you’re a fresher looking for places to get to know your peers and hang out, you could also take a stroll around University Park to set you up for all kinds of moods. Here are a few of my personal favourite hang-out spots at University Park:
Portland Coffee Co
PCC is one of the most popular, aesthetic, and cozy cafés on campus! It has both an inside and an outdoor seating space. They usually have playlists to match the vibe of the café too. I like to go there when I want to catch up with my friends over coffee or even to meet up with someone new. What could go wrong with some coffee and dessert?
Mooch
If you’re looking for a chill space to vibe over the weekends or to catch up with someone over drinks and some really appetising meals, Mooch is the place to be. It’s one of our bars on campus with a pool table and dart board too. It’s quite a popular location for its themed menu on St. Patrick’s Day.
Highfields Park
Did you know that our campus was once labelled as “the greenest campus” across the world? It’s one of the best things about it besides the several facilities that are made available to us. The high fields park is great to take a walk around on sunny days. It’s one of the largest spots with a beautiful lake where you’ll be graced by the presence of the infamous #beastsofUoN. The Highfields lake might have its boat paddling activities ongoing towards the beginning of the academic year. Make sure you check it out!
Portland Copse
The Portland Copse is situated at the backside of the Portland building. It’s another popular area with a beautiful view of the lake. It’s the perfect location to take breaks before or in between your lecture hours because it’s so close to the teaching buildings!
The Downs
Here at the University of Nottingham, Summers seem incomplete without little picnics with your friends on The Downs. It’s a huge green stretch of land located close to most on-campus accommodations. It is just lovely to put on some music, lay down under the sun, and have a fun time with your friends.
These are just a few of the areas where I have spent my first year on campus. You could install the MyNottingham App once you have received your student ID to navigate through campus better by using the maps feature on the app.
