It’s a whole new beginning!
Hello everybody!
My one week holiday was a blast! My favourite destination would be Salzburg, Austria. The sceneries are simply breathtaking. Plus, I even went to a Medical Careers Conference in Liverpool right after my trip was over before coming back to Nottingham. I’ll write about them in upcoming posts though.
Anyway, today is the start of my Clinical Phase! (The period when medical students begin their learning in hospitals)
I have to say that I was very excited for today. The day began with us having our photos taken at Medical School. The University of Nottingham just loves taking pictures of their students; my photo was taken for 3 times already since I became a medical student at this university in 2009 😀
Besides that, I met my project supervisor, Dr Kim to return my lab book and to say thanks for everything she had done to help me with my research. She has been really supportive throughout the past 9 months. I’m just so grateful to have her as my supervisor.
Since I am now in my Clinical Phase, I was given a new card – the NHS Smartcard!
The sentence “Your Smartcard is yours for life” actually has a deeper meaning to me..it’s telling me that this is really happening; that I’m going to be a doctor one day.
Truth be told, I have always looked forward to the Clinical Phase. I talked to my motherly tutor, Dr Luisa during our meeting last year about how difficult it was to work in the lab and I just couldn’t wait to go into the hospitals.
Well people, I’m going to King’s Mill Hospital in Mansfield tomorrow! I wonder how hectic my life would be now that I’m going to meet patients even more frequent than before. It’s going to be tough. That’s for sure.
Wish me the best!
Until then,
Wafi 😉
