#BUCSThisGirlCan Week | University Lacrosse Officer, Katie
The University of Nottingham Sport Engage programme has been designed to widen the sporting opportunities available to our students.
The programme provides weekly sessions available in more than 25 different sports, some led by student volunteers and others with a coach.
Katie Rowling is a third year economics student, represents #GreenandGold on the Lacrosse 4th team and volunteers her time to keep others active and introduce them to a new sport as the University Lacrosse Officer.
“I started volunteering with Engage and ULO because I wanted to give other girls the chance to try a new sport and hopefully get as much out of it as I have.
I only started playing lacrosse a year ago and now I love it, it’s been a great way of staying active and making new friends whilst also learning a something new!
Our sessions this year have exceeded all expectations with attendees having already reached our target number (for the whole year).
We hope that we’ll have more and more people coming throughout the year!
For me, the highlight of the session so far was the beginner’s tournament which gave everyone a chance to practice what they’ve learnt so far this year.”
Katie runs her lacrosse session every Thursday 7-8pm, at the David Ross Sports Village. The session is £3 or free for sport and fitness members, no booking is required just turn up and play!
