Girls’ Night In a huge hit!
By Sebastian Chmielinski
On Sunday 24th April, over 120 girls descended upon the University Park Sports Centre for another hugely successful Girls’ Night In.
Organised by the Engage team, and in association with Nottingham Girls Can, the evening of ‘fun, fitness and freebies’ was aimed at encouraging and increasing participation from girls in a fun and laid back environment.
The evening began at 7pm on the dot and there were girls queuing out of the door! They couldn’t wait to have a go at the Circuit training, Breakdance, Thai Boxing and Yoga taster sessions, or indulge in our infamous mocktails.
In the build up to exams, the evening also offered a perfect revision break thanks to free massages from the Physiotherapy and Sport Rehabilitation Association, DJ Soc’s latest mixes and healthy snacks provided by the up and coming Nutri2Go!
After the success of the first event back in December, attendances doubled, with everyone having a fantastic time. Kate Rothery, Participation Sport Development Officer, commented:
“It was great to see so girls trying something new and, most importantly, enjoying themselves. We want people to stay active whilst having fun, and the Girls’ Night In is a perfect way of showing off what the Engage progamme is all about.”
Overall, the event proved to be extremely popular with a number of girls asking when the next installment would be. Unfortunately, girls, you will have to wait until next term – but we promise an even bigger and better evening.
In the meantime, make sure you check out our highlights video produced by Lightfoot Media!
A huge thank you to our Ambassadors, Coordinators and volunteers who helped make the evening a huge success, as well Nottingham Girls Can for their continued support.
