A journey of innovation and learning: welcoming Chandhini to Vesiculab

Dimitri Aubert, CEO of Vesiculab, shares the fresh perspectives that hosting a placement brought to his business.

I’m always excited about fresh perspectives and new ideas that can propel our company forward. Hosting a master’s student from the University of Nottingham was a perfect opportunity to inject fresh energy into our team. Additionally, having graduated from Nottingham University myself, it was particularly special to welcome Chandhini into our fold.

Vesiculab: an international bio-nanotechnology company rooted in Nottingham

For those who might not be familiar, Vesiculab is at the forefront of nano-biotech innovation, developing reagent and consumable products for research purposes. Our primary focus is on solutions for extracellular vesicle research. EVs are tiny particles with enormous potential in diagnostics, drug delivery, and regenerative medicine. We also develop solutions for lipid nanoparticle (LNP) research, like those used in mRNA vaccines. Our work is complex, cutting-edge, and incredibly rewarding.

Chandhini’s digital marketing journey

Chandhini Shivabalan came to us with a strong mix of academic and professional background and a passion for digital marketing. Her role was to assist with our digital marketing efforts (mainly Google Ads and LinkedIn), which perfectly aligned with her master’s degree. From day one, she approached her tasks with enthusiasm and energy, tackling our challenges in inbound and outbound marketing with the eye of a knowledgeable outsider.

She quickly adapted to the technical language used by Vesiculab’s customers and searched for new ways to optimize our content for search engines and social media. Bridging the gap between complex biotech concepts and the general public was no small feat, and her ability to do so was impressive.

Overcoming challenges together

Like any journey, there were challenges along the way. The biggest hurdle was ensuring that our digital content accurately reflected the sophisticated nature of our work while remaining engaging. Chandhini and I were interacting on a daily basis to discuss online performance, tweak campaigns parameters and adjust content and wording when necessary.

What stood out to me was her willingness to learn and adapt. She asked insightful questions, sought feedback, and continuously improved her strategies. This proactive approach not only benefited our digital presence but also enriched her learning experience.

Personally, I felt invigorated by the mentoring exercise that the placement represented. Being confronted with new ideas and modern ways of working ensures that I stay abreast of the constantly evolving ways of conducting business.

Conclusion

If there’s one piece of advice I would give to other companies considering similar placements, it’s this: embrace the fresh perspectives and energy that interns bring. They are not just here to learn from us; we have a lot to learn from them too.

Chandhini’s placement at Vesiculab was a mutually enriching experience. It was a pleasure to see her grow and to see our company benefit from her contributions. As we continue to push the boundaries of biotech, I’m excited about future collaborations with talented individuals like Chandhini and the continued partnership with Nottingham University. Here’s to many more successful placements and the bright futures they create.
