What’s On? December 2014

December is upon us and it’s finally socially acceptable to play Christmas music and spend as much time as possible dressed in jumpers bedecked in reindeer, snowmen and Santa. There’s plenty of fun, festive and otherwise, to be had in Nottingham over the next few weeks to end 2014 on a high.

Event: A Very Merry Newstead
Date: 23rd December to 3rd January, 11am-3pm
Location: Newstead Abbey
Information: Visit Newstead Abbey for a Christmas garden trail. It’s only £1 to enter and explore.

Event: The University of Nottingham: Festival of Lessons and Carols
Date: 4th December, 7.30pm
Location: St Mary’s Church, High Pavement, Nottingham
Information: Featuring Viva Voce, University Choir and Revival Gospel Choir, this is the University’s very own Christmas carol concert – all welcome!

Event: New Year’s Eve Fireworks
Date: 31st December
Location: Nottingham Castle at midnight (plus an earlier display in the Old Market Square)
Information: See the new year in with a spectacular fireworks display at Nottingham Castle.

Event: Nottingham Winter Wonderland
Date: 20th November – 4th January
Location: Old Market Square
Information: The outdoor ice rink is back this year, accompanied by a craft and gift market, helter skelter and more!

Event: Sleeping Beauty
Date: 28th November – 17th January
Location: Nottingham Playhouse
Information: For a taste of traditional panto fun, pop to the Playhouse to see their interpretation of Sleeping Beauty.

Event: Nottingham Council House Tours
Date: 10.15am and 11.30am on Sunday 7th and Sunday 14th December, 6pm on Wednesday 17th December
Location: Council House, Old Market Square
Information: Free tours of one of Nottingham’s most iconic buildings.
