Nottingham alumni in full voice for the Ryder Cup

A group who admit to being ‘hopelessly obsessed golf fans dedicated to securing Ryder Cup victory for Team Europe via the power of song’ are serenading their heros once again this year.

Inspired by the heroics of Sam Torrance’s Belfry winning team of 2002 ‘The Guardians of the Cup’ are an a cappella group composed largely of former University of Nottingham students who say their inability to sing is no obstacle!

And despite their inability to sing the group, who dress up in yellow and blue costumes to serenade Europe’s finest golfers, have found themselves at the centre of the international news media’s Ryder Cup coverage! Their ode to Lee Westwood attracted the attention of Christopher Clarey, the Global Sports columnist for the New York Times. They have their own FaceBook page. And have got nearly 600 followers on Twitter. And no self respecting a cappella group would be without their own website.

Now living and working across the UK from Edinburgh to Brighton the Nottingham alumni will be cheering on their heros and hoping to a resounding win for the 2016 European team!
