Hello, from the Ingenuity Lab!

Welcome to the Ingenuity Lab’s new blog – Inside the Ingenuity Lab!

 

 

We hope you will enjoy reading and contributing to this blog as much has we will enjoy collating exciting stories about our members, associates, mentors and partners!

The Ingenuity Lab Team is part of the Haydn Green Institute at The University‘s Enterprise Start-up centre, with 1,500 members and over 100 active businesses. Our creative members consist of current students and alumni, whom we support with practical business development, building entrepreneurial skills & encourage innovation. This blog will cover The Ingenuity Lab services; share stories written by our members about their entrepreneurial successes and inform you about our collaborative business development events and activities.

This will be a fortnightly blog written by our team and an array of special guest bloggers; including members, academics, mentors and more!  We will use this space to do the following:

  • Keep you updated about our events – some of which are open to all!
  • Share interesting articles about innovation and business entrepreneurship
  • Introduce you to our Ingenuity Lab members, showcasing members and their businesses

Meet the team

The Ingenuity Lab is run by a small team of busy minds, working hard to ensure members are supported every step of the way!

Steve Chapman, Ingenuity Lab ManagerSteve

Steve joined the Ingenuity Lab in December 2014 following a career that ranged from banking through to Film. Over his career he has worked for the likes of JP Morgan and Citibank, was an assistant director of projects such as Saving Private Ryan, The Boxer and EastEnders and local was responsible for setting up Nottingham’s creative industries hub, Antenna.  Steve is also the director of innovative home brand Fenton Art + Design, and  dance fitness brand, Ballestics.

Steve is responsible for the strategy, development and operations of the Ingenuity Lab, He works across the University, as well as with external partners, to raise the profile and develop new and exciting opportunities for the Lab.

Steve’s pastimes include regularly visiting the gym, running and sleeping, when possible!

Rob Carroll, Honorary Professor in Venture Capital and Private Equity

Rob is a Director of Catapult Ventures, which is a UK based venture capital investor with £130m under management. Rob chairs Catapult’s Investment Committees.

He has lectured at Nottingham University Business School since 2011 in Venture Capital and Private Equity and was appointed Honorary Professor in August 2013.

In the Ingenuity Lab, Rob advises members on business development and investment readiness.

Rob enjoys golf, running, travelling and rugby.

 

Maggie Rouse, Ingenuity Lab Office AdministratorMaggie

Maggie has supported the Ingenuity Lab team since it was established in 2008 and has worked for The Haydn Green Institute for over 8 years.  Maggie is the first port of call for members and ensures they are properly inducted into the Ingenuity Lab; manages the booking of meetings; resourcing needs and more.

Previous to joining the institute, Maggie worked for Wade Furnishing Group as PA to the Chief Executive and also arranged export shipping and has a degree in art!

Maggie enjoys regularly visiting Spain to catch up with friends and loves cats, of which she has three.

 

brzgmGenelva Meikle, Events and Marketing Consultant

Genelva Meikle is the Director of Epiphany Creatives, a event and marketing company.  Genelva has 14 years’ experience in delivering seamless events, whilst working within a range of sectors including fashion, arts, retail and education.

Genelva joined the Ingenuity Lab in November 2015 and is responsible for supporting the coordination of the Ingenuity Lab events and communicating updates about the lab, its members and its events.

Genelva’s past times include yoga, meditating, ‘dancing as if no one is watching’ and eating out.
