Gnomeo and Juliet
I’ve just been accused of snobbery for being dismayed at this news article. To summarise, briefly.
A new CGI musical spoof of Romeo and Juliet.
Titled : Gnomeo and Juliet.
Starring James McAvoy as a gnome.
The film being primarily a vehicle for the music of Elton John.

Snob I may be. Doesn’t mean it’s going to be any good though!

I have only one thing to say: Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds!
Dear Sir,
methinks you take the comments too strongly.
Perchance they were made in jest?
Having said that – Gnomes/Shakespeare – what’s not to love? Oh yeah – the Elton John thing. An object lesson in how to take a great idea and ruin it.
Worry not, I wouldn’t have mentioned it if I was actually hurt! It’s okay, I don’t mind being a snob when it comes to ‘comedy’ Shakespeare parodies….
who said it was a comedy? I hear they are planning a gnome (should that be gnomic?) bloodbath.
…was awesome?
That said, I can’t see this being any good at all.
I think ‘gnomic’ is the appropriate adjective. And ‘gnomically’ would be the adverb.
The question is, can Elton John write gnomic poetry?
Elton John is good, James McAvoy is good.
erm.
EQUALS: GOOD?
Be an optimistic for once in your tragedy-induced life Mr. Peter Kirwan. Jeez, do it.
It might have stood a chance if it was going to feature Bowie’s Laughing Gnome.
James
I like gnomes, I like James McAvoy, I like Elton John, I like Shakespeare, just not sure about the four at the same time…. But your point’s made, I’ll reserve judgment til I see it (which I inevitably will)
Back to my, erm, tragedy-induced life(?) now then…
Haha, no idea what I meant by that last bit! The mystery of the small-hours posts!
It can’t be worse than the pile of trash movie “Tromeo and Juliet”, a piece of crap featuring lesbianism, incest, mindless violence, rape, the birth of a plague of rats, disfigurement, poor sound quality, worse acting and awful special effects. The theme song is OK though.
If you have never seen a film made by Troma my advice is not to bother. It is two hours of your life that you aren’t going to get back ever again.
