What To Do In A Heatwave!
As you may have noticed, it’s been pretty hot for the last few days! If you couldn’t tell from the temperature, a few tell-tale signs of a heatwave in Britain include: the BBQ section of the supermarket selling out overnight, the people next door have inexpliably found a paddling pool from somewhere, literally everyone you meet remarking “Oooh, it’s hot outside isn’t it!”, it is suddenly ten times harder to get your work done because you’d so much rather be sunbathing. So here are a few ways to make the most of this brief glimpse of summer!
- Drink lots of water! Hydration is key when it comes to keeping your cool (see what I did there?) and although post-lecture drinks at Mooch are fun, water is also important! Top tip: fill a plastic bottle up half-way and stick it in the freezer overnight. Then, in the morning, top the rest up with normal water so you’re not waiting for the ice to melt.
- Without wanting to sound like an overbearing parent (an overbear-ent, if you will (my apologies for the terrible pun)), slap on some sun cream! Even if you’re not as glaringly pasty as me, sunburn is extremely unpleasant and not what you want to be dealing with when you’re trying to focus on exam.
- Try taking some of your work outside. Obviously if what you’re doing relies on a computer that can be tricky but if there’s anything you can take with you, like a book or some paper notes, do that!
- Take some time to enjoy yourself! Exams are very stressful (cheeky plug for my last post if you want some tips on dealing with exam stress), I know, but taking 20 minutes to go sit by the lake in the sun should hopefully refresh you and help clear your mind. Also, it should help alleviate some of the FOMO of sitting in the library and wondering if everyone else is having fun in the sun without you!
