#Throwback

Sitting in the library today I saw many prospective students and parents looking lost around campus for the UCAS visit days. This made me realize, around 3 years ago in February was the first time I came to this university for the very same reason. On that day (as cheesy as it sounds) I did “fall in love” with the uni, however back then our campus was totally different! Here are a couple of the changes I’ve noticed over the 3 years.

 

• George Green Library

I remember the science area of campus was completely building work free and it will probably be the only time I ever see it like that. But George Green then was only half of what it is now, so I’ll put up with the construction work until graduation.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

• New Sports Centre

Now I never really experienced the sports centre, however rumour has it, it’s being redeveloped into to the David Ross Sports Village. This has meant that there are no more exams in the sports hall or graduation there. But for all you sport fanatics I guess you’ll be excited for the new £40 million development.

 

 

• Tram line

For the majority of first year I remember getting buses and being redirected all over campus due to the tram works. The finish date was delayed, however it finally got completed just in time for this academic year. It does surprise me though when trying to leave campus and I forget that there is an oncoming tram.

 

 

• Snow

Now this isn’t really a change, but on the open day it was the first and last time I have ever seen our campus in the snow. It was so pretty back then that I even Instagrammed it. 4 months left until graduation, who knows it may snow on the final day!

 

 

• My walking speed

Just as a joke for the final change, I definitely remember struggling in the snow on the UCAS day to get up Portland hill. Don’t get me wrong, I still hate that hill, but I have found short cuts to work around it. All in all, walking around campus can be quite relaxing, unless you have to sprint for your next lecture!
