Connecting with your peers via groupchats before you move
Editors note: Please note that these group chats are not managed or monitored by the university. Please be cautious about what information is shared within them and who you share your information with.
If you’re reading this, you have successfully firmed your choice with UoN and look forward to one of the biggest transitions in your life. It’s just as exciting to meet new people and start this new chapter, as it is daunting. So why wait? I found it extremely helpful to connect with my mates traveling from the same region, moving to the same accommodation, and studying the same course as me. It not only helped me break the ice, but also look forward to meeting and exploring freshers with them. Don’t wait until your move-in date to introduce yourself to your flatmates! You could even organise a video chat and play games online for some ice-breaking.
In a university as big as ours, you’re bound to find people to match your vibe! This is one way to start before you reach.
