Top restaurant picks for November

Let’s face it, November is probably the worst part of the academic year. It’s getting cold, you’re getting burnt out and the sun sets way too early in the day. However, not everything has to be gloomy and dark; November also brings hot chocolate and memes about Bublé waking from his hibernation. To add to the winter cheer, here are my favourite restaurants to embrace that autumn/winter aesthetic.

Slug & Lettuce is perched just off Old Market Square, making it extremely accessible. With an extensive menu – featuring their famous Pornstar Martini tower – and good prices, Slug and Lettuce is a wonderful place to go for dinner and drinks. Not to mention their ‘grandma chic’ aesthetic, complete with floral seat covers and bird cage booths, will excite even the Gloomiest Gus this winter.

Is it just me or is there genuinely nothing better than pub food on a cold winter evening? Water’s Edge in Castle Marina is so close to Lenton that you can probably get there before you even feel the wind chill. Better yet, their fairy lights and Christmas décor perfectly compliment their homely menu. Definitely a favourite of mine and my housemates, and that will come as no surprise if you have ever visited.

Being of Indian ethnicity might make me a bit biased on this one but Chaiiwala is one of the cosiest pit stops you could possibly make this winter. Their famous karak chai (a traditional spiced tea) will have you feeling like your everyday stock photo of someone curled up in a blanket, sipping on tea on a snowy day. Pair it with some of their wonderful Indian street food and you’ve got your evening plans sorted.

Look at all that food at Chaiiwala!!

A student favourite here in Nottingham is Bunk. Whilst most of you have probably heard of it, it’s just plain unfair if I don’t include it in this article. From décor to music to chicken wings, Bunk is your cliché chilled night out. But remember, clichés are clichés for a reason; everybody loves it!

There are so many wonderful spots around Nottingham that will warm your heart over winter. This list barely scratches the surface. From restaurants to bars to our famous Winter Wonderland, Nottingham is absolutely stunning during winter. If you’re anything like me and hate the cold, I hope this list will help you find some joy this winter.

Until next time,

Shweta
