Actually having actual fun

So Praise the Lord I am in much better health this week! And I have done a fair few fun things πŸ™‚

I went to Gourmet Burger Kitchen and ate a massive meal with friends! (Just to clarify, on my own wouldn’t have been so great…)

Avocado and Bacon burger….mmmmm

sweet pots chips

Sweet potato fries…..nom

The standard things is to get side dishes….but really the burgers are so big they’re enough on their own. Oh, the benefit of hindsight. However students get 30% off (woop) so that was helpful for the pennies.

We then went on to the Glee Club Nottingham Β to see Joe Lycett and James Acaster. Absolutely hilarious night, both brilliant and very different. And an hour’s set each so value for money!

Joe is probably more ‘natural’ on stage, a little bit outrageous, reminiscent of Julian Clary in saying rude things in a camp way and getting away with it, and such an engaging performer, Β I’ve seen him a few times now and he doesn’t disappoint, I always want more! His routine seems very fluid with the audience etc which is great to bring the “characters” out of the crowd.

James was very different, a more fixed routine which was very clever in how it all tied together- but he was still flexible with audience interaction. His stage persona is very awkward and serious, bringing the ridiculous into every day things. He was saying he’d be an ice cream van man and get business by offering free cone refills – but then driving away…Though this be madness yet there’s method in’t

YAY

Speaking of Shakespeare – I saw the Reduced Shakespeare Company on Monday at the Playhouse in Nottingham with my lovely housemate Alex. They performed “the complete works of William Shakespeare (abridged)” which is hilarious and if you ever get a chance to see it – go!

It’s a three man show and it’s quite ridiculous, silly and a lot of fun – and so clever. Their performance of Hamlet backwards was epic – Ophelia (man in bad drag) in stead of pouring a cup of water on her(him?)self to represent drowning just spits a load of water out. Also Titus Andronicus as a cookery program. And Romeo and Juliet as you’ve never seen it before:

Woop!

I also finished an essay so I thought I’d bake some nutella filled muffins from Disney Cakes and Sweets. Yes I’m a subscriber. No I’m not ashamed.

But maybe slightly embarrassed.

But it’s now on the internet. *Denial shifty eyes*

However my incredibly cheapo hand mixer broke whilst mixing – and my dark soft brown sugar was a bit lumpy…so I had to sieve my cake mixture. Possibly the slowest thing ever. Then also this “makes 12” recipe made 19. And as I only have a 12 hole muffin tin I had to do two batches as I knew they’d spread if I free form baked them. So in short, my brief interlude baking became almost two hours of sieving, chucking away a mixer, smashing sugar lumps, baking batches and it was slightly more stressful than anticipated. But still…cupcakes

It was worth it πŸ™‚

I also saw my recipe in the Healthy U Recipe book – yay πŸ™‚ Look out for copies round Uni!

Now I’m off to see Thor 2 (well excited, Thor 1 was such a cliffhanger) – and I have done lots of work too…honest!

Enjoy your weeks!
