Welcome to the Nottingham Physics Open Days 2018

An early welcome to everyone who will be visiting our beautiful campus on Friday and Saturday of this week for the University of Nottingham Open Days. Here in the School of Physics and Astronomy we have a full program of talks, tours, and demonstrations planned to give a taste of what it’s like to be part of our community.

For even more information, you can also take a look through the archive on this blog for posts related to e.g. admissions; the exciting research that we do here (including some fantastic work done by our undergraduate students); information on PhysSoc, our award-winning student society; or get a taste of what student life is like. You can also head over to YouTube to check out some of our many, many videos on the Sixty Symbols, Numberphile, DeepSkyVideos, and Computerphile channels.

By far the best ambassadors we have are our students, who are able to provide a first-hand perspective on what it’s like to study physics at Nottingham (warts and all). Whether it’s questions about accommodation, student societies, where to find support, who their favourite lecturer is – they’ll be happy to give an honest answer.

In the same vein, our own YouTube channel, UoN_Physics, features video interviews with some of our students and key members of our teaching and support team.  Here’s a recent chat with this year’s PhysSoc president Jake Lester (who will be graduating with his MSci degree in a few weeks’ time – congratulations Jake!)

We hope you have an enjoyable visit to Nottingham and look forward to welcoming you here! Feel free to comment below if you have any questions or comments.
